While most of us were getting faded on New Year’s Eve, Rihanna was gearing up for the 2008 grind with a massive $500,000 pay day. Oleg Deripaska, a 39-year-old self-made Russian billionaire, paid Rihanna $500K for a 40min private New Year’s Eve performance for him and a few of his colleagues. To us $500,000 may seem like a lot, but for Deripaska ( pronounced CHA-CHING!), whose net worth is $13.3 billion, it’s chump change. That’s because some high profile performers are known to command $5 million+ for private concerts. Rihanna should step her haggling game up in 2008.
