Last night, Sin City was the place to be! That’s because Jay officially opened the Las Vegas branch of his popular sports bar, the 40/40 Club. As 2007 draws to a close, I felt it only fitting to close out the year with the official hustler’s anthem of ‘07. And with that said, I wish all the hustlers out there much success with your new ventures in the New Year. Survive the droughts, I wish you well! Keep American Dreamin’

RealTalkNY put together this footage of some of the events that took place, since 2004 to very recently, under Jay-Z’s watch as Def Jam CEO/President. The Events range from disgruntled employees to some notable accomplishments. Check it out.
Side note: Jay was once quoted as saying: when an artist fails, they say it is the label’s fault. When an artist succeeds, the label had nothing to do with it. Truth be told, a lot of the artists criticizing Jay as president were irrelevant long before he even became CEO. In the end, they were probably just hurt to see their competition become their boss.
Yesterday we reported there is already speculation about who will replace Jay-Z as President/CEO of Def Jam records. Names that were thrown around include Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Dame Dash, Irv Gotti, 50-Cent, and even Russell Simmons.
Well, now there is another name being added to the list. Someone that no one would have ever expected: Chuck D! According to AHH, Chuck D has shown interest in replacing Jay as CEO of Def Jam. Chuck D was quoted saying: Continue reading ‘Chuck D Wants The Def Jam Presidency’
